I played Cullinan yesterday and with my new'ish 28hc I shot a crap 103. My playing partner and I had some beers afterwards and decided to go for another 9.
Now this is the part that impressed me about the game, I think I might have started snapping the fcuk out of it like U&D suggested I do. I teed off with a bang, straight down the centre. I made par, par, birdy, birdy and unfortunately had three doubles to end the 9 in 43. Now this was one serious 9 for me, too late to count, but it made me think my handicap is so high because something in my head, I don't warm up enough before a round or I don't drink enough before I start a round.
Anyway I'm now on a serious mission to find out what it is, maybe a combo of all of the above. I now know I can do it |

Yip, a large part of golf is mental. Good luck figuring it out though. _________________ I don't exaggerate - I just remember big. |

I shot a 103 on the first 18, then we decided to play another 9 and that's where I shot the 43. So al in all we played 27 holes. |

I know mate, just pulling your leg
If you can make 2 birds and 2 pars in a row and you are off 28, there is something frightfully wrong with the way you approach the game. I am not saying it to be arrogant, but you need to see a kop doktor or play a game with a pro to show you how he plots his way around the course.
You are either hitting a series of terrible shots or making very stupid errors. (EG trying to reach every par 5 in 2, going to pins that are near water, trying to fly the corners of doglegs rather than playing for the safe areas.) _________________ “ I don’t always know what I am talking about, but I'm never wrong!” - Mohammed Ali |

All been said already.
Just a quick note. On this forum, for future reference, it is NOT:

These are considered the same and mutually inclusive practices and not an "either / or" event. _________________ Left is the devil's work. |

OK then, let's move on to the more important question.
How many beer would be considered enough warmup? Or is this relative to your weekly consumption? |

I would say 1 or 2 would generally be acceptable except in the following key circumstances:
1. Your round is at Silver Lakes with other forum members - in this case there is no potential upper limit to what constitutes a decent warm up.
2. You are out at State Mines playing with Mark J in which case I would say a minimum of 4 constitutes a warm up. Anything less than that and you may be prone to muscles pulls. _________________ Left is the devil's work. |

Weekly consumption, company you keep, size, weight distribution. There are many many factors to consider. So, either figure out a formula for all of the variables or just go out and play golf without thinking too much. _________________ I don't exaggerate - I just remember big. |

D, I can't believe how dumb you okes in the North are. Beer comes in sixes, dozens and cases.....all multiples of 6, and there's a reason for this.
Anything less than 6 is just a waste of time and not worth the bother.
So when you refer to 4, it logically follows that you mean either 4 six packs, 4 dozen or 4 cases...any of which is perfectly acceptable as a warm-up _________________ Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most. |

I have to say, if I had 4 six packs before golf, I probably wouldn't even know that I'm at a golf course after that, nevermind warmup I'd be asked to shutup and/or leave and I don't think it will be done politely. |
