STORY: Before having surgery almost a year ago to repair a tendon in my wrist, I'd had some small injuries, but nothing big. An injury gives you something to reflect on - that you're not indestructible. I have a deeper appreciation for golf now. And my game feels like it's back to where it was.

DISTANCE WAR
Equipment technology has made a big jump the past five years, especially the ball. Part of me would love to go back to when Augusta National was 6 310 metres and had no rough. Now, I have to rely on hitting 3- or 4-irons into greens that weren't meant to receive them. But if I'm playing well, I can win anywhere.

RYDER CUP CAPTAIN
Colin Montgomerie will be a great captain. Obviously, he's someone who's passionate about the Ryder Cup. He loves that atmosphere. He also brings a lighthearted attitude. He's gonna try his hardest, but he has that dry wit about him that will hopefully make the team a little bit more at ease.

THROWBACK
I play the Titleist Pro V1x 2005 version because I prefer the way it plays in the wind. I mark it with a dot between the logo and the number.

TEE PREFERENCE
I prefer medium-length white tees (I can't seem to get used to the long ones), but I'm always running out, so I use whatever I can find.

BE PREPARED
I usually keep a couple of hand warmers in the bag and two waterproof jackets (long sleeve and short sleeve) so I have options.

Cool tool
I'm not alone when it comes to the number of tour players who like the divot tool from the Memorial Tournament. I like the way it fits my hand.

ART APPRECIATION
I was an art theory and practice major at Northwestern, but it's my brother and caddie, Christian, who picks out what colour Sharpies I carry.
